Floating Marina Project
The Proposed new Marina
The new Marina is the next natural step in the Club’s ongoing pursuit of our Vision — To maintain our position as a Leading Yacht Club in Australia. The Marina will deliver a high quality member experience, and ensure the longevity and ongoing financial viability of the Club through increased membership. The new Marina will reflect the proud tradition of the Club by delivering state of the art facilities.
The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria
The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria has more than 900 members and 300 yachts on its register. The Club has a long and proud history of bay and ocean racing, as well as long-distance cruising.
A decision has been made to replace the existing piled marina with a new floating marina, providing berthing for nearly 240 boats. Final approvals are under way and construction is expected to begin in 2016, with completion due later that year.
To support its development, the Club is offering 20-year leases for approximately 50 per cent of the berths in the new marina.
The RYCV is located in the heart of Williamstown at the entrance to the Yarra River, just nine kilometers from the Melbourne CBD. The Club is easily accessible by road and rail and well protected from the prevailing south westerly weather.
The Club has extensive facilities to support your boating experience including:
- a working yard for boat maintenance and repair serviced by a 28 ton Travel lift
- yard storage for 30-40 boats serviced by a broad range of marine contractors
- car parking for 100 cars, with an average walking distance of just 130 metres to the marina entrance
- lockers for storage of boat related equipment
- extensive clubhouse including bar and dining facilities
With car parking for boat owners, a short walk to your berth, and ample yard and locker facilities, the setting for great boating could not be better.
