VICTORIAN NOTICES TO MARINERS

PORT OF MELBOURNE –WILLIAMSTOWN.

NELSON PIER UPGRADE WORKS – INSTALLATION OF MOORING DOLPHIN.

Date:

On or about 27 February until 31 July 2012.

Former Notice 037(T) – 2012 refers and is hereby cancelled.

Details:

• Stage 1 Works (preliminary borehole investigations) from Monday 27 Feb to Saturday 10 March 2012.

• Stage 2 Works (construction of the new mooring dolphin) from Wednesday 7 March through to Tuesday 31 July 2012.

The new dolphin mooring will be installed about 35 metres from Nelson Pier at an approximate position Lat 37° 51.64’ S Long 144° 54.77’ E. The current F W light at the end on Nelson Pier West will be moved to the above location. Temporary spot lights will to be installed at the end of Nelson Pier to provide additional illumination during all upgrade works.

Mariners are advised that upgrade works at Nelson Pier, including the installation of a new mooring dolphin, will be undertaken as follows:

Recreational craft and Mariners are advised to remain clear of Naval Waters and navigate with caution in the vicinity of the works.
